Part 3: Hiking at High Altitude: What do you need to know (virtual session)
Part 4: Colorado hiking & backpacking trip for July 14-22, 2018. (see event calendar to sign up).

This is the beginner backpacking trip for those who attended the Backpacking 101 class previously (preference will be given to those who took the class). If you didn't take the class, please email me first via [email protected] to assess your ability to join this trip.

This is a 1 night, 2 days out and back and is about 8 miles in total and with 1660 feet in elevation gain. The trek will be at GW National Forest. This is perfect for testing your gear and practicing your skills as a backpacker as the trek will only take about 5-6 hours in total. You'll be accompanied the entire time and be given feedback from an experienced backpacker and instructor. This is a great way to get instruction and field experience at the same time.

You are required to read the trail description in detail here:

Drive time is 1.5 hours to the trail head from Vienna metro.

Gear list:

Paid attendees will be provided with a gear list by email. Prior to the trip, it's highly recommended that you test your gear and have done some day hikes to train.

Liability Waiver:

Each member is required to sign a liability waiver form. By joining this trip, you are agreeing to assume all risks.

The carpooling can be set at Vienna and fuel costs will be shared by the group.

How to join:

To join & secure your spot, a nonrefundable fee of $25 is required.
